Goblins, Ghouls, and vegan candy?! Welcome back from our radical rest break! Today we are bravely exploring the urban legend of the ghost in Joaquin Miller Park. If the fog is right, we may catch a glimpse of her on our 3mi hike. 

Wear sneakers/hiking boots only
Bring water, snacks.

Sunset Trail

From Hwy. 13 in Oakland, exit Joaquin Miller Rd./Lincoln Ave. Take Joaquin Miller Rd. for 1 mile and turn left on Sanborn Dr. Park near the Joaquin Miller Park ranger station. Walk 100 feet past the yellow gate and turn right on the trail pointing “To Sunset Trail.” Veer left onto the Sunset Trail (not Sunset Loop Trail) to begin the hike.

Homeschool Rocks Adventure Course

Rumor has it Bob Ross was homeschooled (jk). We will create our own masterpieces today overlooking the Bay and perhaps catching a glimpse of a bear! After morning yoga session, we'll settle in to a free art space to create! All supplies provided!

Bring a yoga mat/towel
Wear clothes that may get paint

From Oakland, Berkeley, or San Francisco: Take I-580 East EXIT Golf Links Road / 98th Ave. LEFT (east) onto Golf Links Road. Drive under freeway & thru intersection at light. (Oakland Zoo will be on your right). Continue straight uphill on Golf Links Road. (Knowland Park will now be on your right). Follow Golf Links Rd. around thru canyon till you enter Grass Valley, a small residential area. first RIGHT onto Caloden StRIGHT onto Malcolm Ave. Follow Malcolm Ave. uphill. RIGHT onto one of the cul-de-sacs. Park on street. Knowland Park will be straight ahead. 


From Castro Valley, Hayward, or Dublin/Livermore: Take I-580 West EXIT Foothill Blvd / MacArthur Boulevard Merge onto Foothill Blvd. Slight RIGHT to stay on Foothill Blvd. first RIGHT onto 106th Ave. RIGHT onto Sheldon St. Continue onto Malcolm AveLEFT onto the cul-de-sac of Cameron Ave. Park on street. Knowland Park will be straight ahead. (For maps and more detail, paste "Malcolm Ave & Cameron Ave, Oakland, CA 94605" into the  destination box of Google Maps.)

In the Chabot Park neighborhood, off of 580, a handful of streets that branch off of Malcolm Ave dead-end into Knowland Park Open Space. Be sure to respect the neighbors’ access to their driveways and park considerately. Try the end of Edgemont or Snowdown Avenue if you want to pick a street name to put into your GPS.

When you arrive, head down the hill towards the Zoo. You will see a small sign that says “public trail” as you approach the Zoo fence on your left.

Homeschool Rocks Adventure Course

Let's take a trip to the lighthouse! We'll take the challenging descent to capture the panaromic views of the Pacific Ocean Coastline at Point Reyes Lighthouse.

This is an extended day! 10a-1p 
It is an 1.5 drive from Oakland proper, please plan accordingly to arrive and spend the day. 

10a Meet at the Lighthouse -
The Point Reyes Lighthouse is located 0.6 miles (1 km) west of the parking lot at the western end of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, Inverness, California. Geographic Coordinates: 37.9956, -123.0232

Dress warm and in layers! 
Wear sneakers/hiking shoes, sunscreen.
Bring water, lunch in a daypack. 
Change of clothes if the water calls to you!

Homeschool Rocks Adventure Course

Axe throwing is a unique way to develop proprioception, gross motor development and hand-eye coordination are useful skills to develop and a fun way to end the season. Come hit the bullseye today developing a new (old) skill. It will be an important skill set for the zombie apocalypse for sure!

Wear -  CLOSED TO SHOES, athletic wear. 

Bring snacks, and drink!

Nature City Camp - Kayaking the Bay

Kayaking + Beach Games @ Crown Beach

Paddle out to the beach and enjoy fun in the sun! After a ground school, stroke school, water entry/exit and clean up review we'll paddle in the lagoon for games, Oakland donuts and more!

Parents: Complete this waiver form for SeaTrek Paddle:

Wear-    
•    Bathing suit under clothes to camp.  If participant is planning to use a wetsuit, limit frilly suits.  
    
•    Rash guards are great for cover up and protection. 
    
•    Aqua socks or strap back sandals are recommended.  
    
•    Sunscreen/hat.



Bring-    
•    Water bottle (strap or carabiner is highly recommended)
    
•    Towel
    
•    Change of dry clothes

Packed Lunch- All lunch in large zip lock bag(s). No lunch/bento boxes please.

Bouldering and bouldering safety is our focus at Indian Rock! Spotter Ready!? Ready!  Today we learn how to be great climbing partners as we start to boulder vertical!  Let's learn new terms and find a great spot!
