Peak Adventure Team

Adventure No. 1 - ScAventure Hunt Adventure is in our city and together will find the treasures all around Alameda. Everyone plays a role solving the riddles and playing the games in the guided scavenger that will lead us safely on a 1.5 mi hike.

Peak Adventure Team

Adventure No. 2 - Short Scouts Little crags are scattered all over the E. Bay for us to explore. Today we scout Leona Heights via footwork in the riverbed to start training fundamentals of accuracy, stability and pressure.

Hands should be free! Use a daypack to carry things!

Arrive early! Practice starts 4:15p. Hike in 4:25p. 
Drop Off/ Pick Up: 4444 Mountain Blvd Park along street side just after Leona Lodge. Walk climber across the street if parked on the opposite side of entrance. Cars are travelling fast on a blind curve.

Peak Adventure Team

Adventure No. 3 - This is Bouldering 
Using stone mortar for skill, the Ohlone left wacos in rocks. These pockets require learning directional movement with proper foot placement. W travel up to N. Berkeley for Little Scouts Pt 2. at Mortar Rock.

Arrive early! Practice starts 4:15p. 
Drop Off/ Pick Up: Mortar Rock is located on the corner of Indian Rock Av. is the next block up to the right of Indian Rock Park. Recommend dropping off at Indian Rock and walking up Indian Rock Ave at the intersection of the Little Library.

Adventure No. 4 - Intro to Outdoor Top Rope Climbing: Ground School
It's time for this next generation of Peak Adventure Team to get On Belay! All have climbed with various levels of comfort. Instilling proper ground management skills early prioritizes  safety and learning ground management-deepens empowering independence of the climbing experience. 

Pick Up/Drop Off: Indian Rock Park - meet amphitheater side of crag

Wear - 
Team shirt / hoodie
Layers
Sneakers w/socks (will get climbing shoes)
Pants/shorts recommended. Bring leggings if wearing a dress.
Put all ponytails / buns low. Hair needs to be out of the face.

Adventure No. 5 - Intro to Belaying 
Like learning to drive, learning to belay takes patience, repetition and consistency. Belaying stimulates the left and right neuropathy way hemispheres, visually engaged, anticipating movement, with the physical demand of quick reaction response. Today we start fortifying the confidence with Pt. 1: Safety 101-102

Arrive early! Practice starts 4:15p. 
Pick Up/Drop Off: Cragmont Park - Picnic table. If arriving late/picking up early, the trailhead to the base of the route is left behind the picnic table. Tight road w/limited parking. High curb/sidewalk parking permitted, just make sure pointed in proper direction. Do not park in fire lanes.

Peak Adventure Team

Adventure No. 6 - On Belay / Off Belay
With everyone practicing knot tying, safety checks and communication over the week to become proficient, we are ready to move on to the the next part of learning to belay Pt. 2 Support, Stance, Stroke.

Arrive early! Practice starts 4:15p. Extended practice to 6:15p for all to move through the practicum.
